If haven’t bought products directly from Apple, normally have to take back to point of sale and have receipt evidence for sale.
What to do if you no longer have the receipt or difficult to retrieve?
Pleasant experience with iPad pencil that stopped working after 8 months, bought from JB HiFi but receipt lost.

Took a chance and dropped into Geelong Technology Group to enquire how best to proceed in this scenario. Receipt not required as can read serial number near tip (very, very small lettering which required magnifier).
Test showed pen faulty. Returned to Apple and new replacement received 5 working days later!!!!!
