There are new currencies coming into view.They are not Australian dollars, or American dollars, or gold but digital currencies. That is, they are not usually owned by a government or nation but they are controlled by computer programs. Someone sets up those programs, of course, so they have control of their future operation at that stage. (This might include powers to change how they work.)

What can we expect from these new currencies? - so far they make the news for rising and falling in value at outrageous speed. One day, however, they might operate like other currencies, but what is it and how can we think about it?
